HOBIE MULTI EUROPEANS
There was an excellent event recently in Maubuisson, France where RCIYC Team Jersey came away away with some great results, Kai & Livy achieved a wonderful 3rd in the H16 Silver Fleet, Henry and George a credible 4th place in the H/Dragoons Junior racing, if it wasn’t for a rigging failure they would have made third. There were also great performances with teams achieving 1sts, 2nds and 3rds in individual races, probably the best set of results in a major International event in recent years.
If you missed the excellent write up and results in the JEP sport from Oliver Kidman, here is a link to that edition:

TANZACAT- ZANZIBAR RAID
Ollie and Megan are currently racing in the warm tropical waters off Zanzibar in the World Class Hobie distance challenge (Aussie H16 helm Andrew Boyd has raced it a few times also racing here in the C.I. Champs and putting on great training for the Fleet) an amazing dream ticket experience for them plus they are smashing it with a 3rd in the initial 3 day bay races and another 3rd in the first of the distance races. Here is Megan’s exciting story from the bay races and first days distance race…

“It’s going really well!
We have just finished 3 days of bay racing yesterday where we finished in 3rd place which we are super pleased with! Just behind Stevie Rumpf who competes in the Euros normally and does very well!
The first day there were 3 races in the afternoon which we only just managed to do as we were delayed 24 hours arriving due to the big ATC issues in England. Then the next day we missed the two morning races in light wind as Ollie had a bad reaction to the malaria tablets, managed to complete the 3 races in the afternoon where we got 2 firsts and then a 5th after pitch poling twice in heavy winds and huge swell! Definitely challenge us and not conditions we’d raced in before! There were a lot of boats that got damaged that day! Then had four races on the third day which we also did well in.

We have just finished the first day of the Tanzacat raid today which was 25knautical miles downwind, took approx 2.5 hours and again finished 3rd! We have five more days of the raid so we will see how we do on the longer legs. There is a live link which people can track us on if anyone is interested: ”

Ollie also managed to exchange burgees with Dar Es Salaam yacht club. Photos attached.
