Jersey Bulls Women’s Summary 2025-26 by John Treleven
The Bulls took the plunge into the national leagues with a women’s team. They joined Division 1 of the Surrey League at tier 9 of the national pyramid, with the targets of Surrey Premier (tier 8) and Southern Counties East Premier (tier 7) ahead of them.
Surrey Division 1 was formed initially of 12 clubs but a late addition brought the final tally to 13. Each team was to be met once with the league then split into the top 7 and bottom 6 who would meet each other again on the reverse ground to their initial meeting. It was later discovered that a controversial decision had been made to “wipe” all the points from the qualifying league and that all teams would start the play-off part of the season with zero points. Jersey, having built up a lead of eight points in the qualifying stages, naturally appealed this, but without success.
They made their league debut on 7th September at home in front of 380 beating Old Tiffinians 7-0. They went on to win the qualifying league with a 100% record over their twelve games including 30-0 at bottom of the table Guildford Saints who subsequently withdrew.
As Jersey were the first to finish their “qualifying” matches they had a five week wait until another qualified team could be met to start the play-offs. Even then there were still four other qualifying fixtures still to be played.
In their final match, in front of their highest attendance of 440, and already assured of a top two finish, they emphatically ensured they finished top with a 100% record over their 18 match season. They demolished Milford & Witley, who had finished 3rd in the qualifying section, 12-3.
