Jersey Rowing Club members represented the Island and enjoyed medal winning performances in beach-sprint rowing at the Commonwealth Rowing Association’s 2025 Championships held in Barbados.
Natacha Searson won silver only missing out on gold by five seconds to Commonwealth Champion Elizabeth Newell from Australia by five seconds. Natacha, who had recently raced in the Mixed double for GB at the World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals, said, “Racing at the Commonwealth was a really special race. My first international race was representing Jersey in Namibia, so it was great to race at the Commonwealth Rowing Association Beach Sprints again. It felt extra special this time getting a silver medal at a Commonwealth event for Jersey. It was a great experience, and I felt very proud to put Jersey on the international stage.”
Chris Thompson raced off against Vanuatu in the B Final of the Men’s Solo, beating them comfortably gaining an overall bronze in the event.
Meanwhile the Jersey pair of Hylton Harvey and Sarah Earles reached the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles, while Ryanna Clifford gave a strong show beyond the time-trial in the under-21 women’s solo draw.
