Padel is one of the World’s fastest growing sports and Jersey certainly plays its part in promoting the sport. Having hosted a Silver International Padel Tournament at the beginning of August, the action turns closer to home as Jersey host the 6th Padel Inter Insular at the St Clement Courts for the Corcuera Cup. (The Cup is named after Enrique Corcuera who invented the sport and who built the world’s first padel court in his garden in Acapulco in Mexico in 1969).
Matches will take place over the weekend Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th September
Guernsey are 3-2 up in this series and so far victory has favoured the home team.
The weekend will consist of 32 players from each island in open and over 45 categories (mens and ladies)
Each category (mens, mens vets, ladies, ladies vets) is won in its own right but all matches count to an overall score to see which island takes home the title.
