Team Jersey set for six days of international basketball action
The Jersey Basketball Association is preparing to welcome players, coaches,
officials and supporters for a packed programme of Team Jersey fixtures, bringing
together island rivalry and international youth competition across six days of
basketball.
The upcoming schedule will feature Team Jersey squads from junior age groups
through to senior representation, with games against Guernsey, Essex Rebels and
VIBBALL Luxembourg. The programme includes tournament fixtures for Jersey’s
younger teams, as well as the highly anticipated Inter-Island Games between Jersey
and Guernsey.
Games begin on Saturday 23 May at Beaulieu, with Team Jersey’s U14 Girls, U16
Boys and U16 Girls all in action against Essex opposition. The schedule continues
across Sunday 24, Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 May, with further fixtures against
Guernsey and Luxembourg, before the senior Inter-Island weekend takes place on
Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June at Oakfield.
Paul Milbank, President of the Jersey Basketball Association, said the tournament
reflects the strength of the sport locally and the progress being made across the
island’s basketball pathway.
Mr Milbank said: “The future of Jersey basketball is very bright indeed.”
He added that the Inter-Island fixtures remain an important part of the basketball
calendar, giving players the honour of representing Jersey in competitive matches
against Guernsey, while the wider tournament provides valuable opportunities for
players to test themselves against visiting teams from the UK and Europe.
The programme will include Team Jersey fixtures across U14, U16, U18 and U21
